Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqar underscored the pivotal role of a nation’s teaching workforce in fostering sustainable development, emphasizing the potential of teaching graduates to shape the future and elevate society. These remarks were delivered during his address at the Government Elementary College of Education convention held in Hussainabad. Notable attendees at the convocation included Minister of Education Dr Rana Hussain, VC Karachi University Khalid Iraqi, Muhammad Ali Taba, CEO Durbeen Salma Alam, Shahzad Raoi, Khalid Mahmood, and other dignitaries.
Baqar acknowledged a significant milestone, praising the first-ever graduating batch of Hussainabad Teachers Training College under the leadership of Durbeen. He highlighted Durbeen’s assumption of control in 2019 through a public-private partnership, citing the collaboration’s positive outcomes evident in the successful graduation of the inaugural batch.
The Chief Minister lauded the academic excellence of the graduates, noting their achievements comparable to entry-level positions in banking and medical professions. He emphasized their crucial role as driving forces in the educational landscape, imparting knowledge at esteemed institutions like Zindagi Trust Government Schools, Khatoon-e-Pakistan, and SMB Fatima Jinnah.
Baqar stressed the foundational significance of the teaching profession, describing it as the backbone of any nation, responsible for giving rise to all other professions. He reiterated the importance of a robust teaching workforce for sustainable national development, highlighting the graduates’ potential to shape the future and uplift society.
Addressing the power of education, Baqar commended government schools as symbols of equal opportunity, transcending socioeconomic backgrounds to facilitate social mobility. He commended the graduates for choosing to teach in government schools, interpreting it as a dedication to uplifting society.
